Well it is over! What a day. Wind and rain. This is not what I was hoping for but I survived! My ultimate goal was not met but I did stay under 4 for my first marathon....wet feet and cold is all I can say.

I will talk more later....

It's later. Man did my core body temp drop over the run. I didn't realize it until I got home. I have been wearing a jacket and a blanket for a couple hours now an am finally feeling right.

All I can say is WOW! What an experience. I would have much rather had a dry day but be that as it may it was a good run. I had a insole malfunction. With the rain my insole would bunch up every time I stopped to take a walk break. That sucked big time. At the same time it keep me focusing on running. The crowd really helped me out especially the last 2 miles. I hit the wall at 24 and was ready to walk it in but I couldn't. Hitting the last stretch I said to myself what the HECK let's get this done. I sprinted to the finish the last .25 miles at a 5:29 pace and finished strong, knocking off about 20 runners (road kill for Clyde)LOL

Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement!

Too bad about the insole problem. Congratulations on surving the run with a positive (and soggy) attitude)

Great first Marathon Scott. Under the conditions and everything you ran amazing to keep it under 4hrs. All I can say is great job. Now relax for a while and let this one soak in.

From Burt on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 19:07:09

Well, it sounds it did soak in; the rain, that is. Especially if you're having to wear a jacket for a couple of hours. But congratulations on the great race!

Thanks everyone! You are all great! Who's going out for a long run on Monday????? Just kidding!

I feel better about the run now that I have time to get feeling like myself. I told myself this morning that I had set myself up for failure shooting for a BQ on my first marathon....especially with the condition we had. So in reality long before the race began I had decided that completion of the race was the goal. I still would have liked to get the 3:30 but there are other races...THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!!!
